Cody & Gemma

In June 2018, fate brought us together in the most unexpected way: Gemma crashed Cody’s going-away party in Argentina, just as he was packing up for his next adventure in Italy. We clicked instantly in the kitchen when Gemma, in search of an icebreaker, asked Cody his favorite food. “Hummus,” he said with a perfectly guttural "H." Gemma’s ears perked up. Is he Jewish? A whirlwind three weeks followed, and though Cody was bound for Italy and Gemma was staying in Argentina… this was not our goodbye. We reunited in Peru for a five-day trek to Machu Picchu, marking the start of our love story across continents. The years that followed included international meet-ups and love letters, moving in together in DC just before Covid, and then tackling a long-distance relationship while Gemma had to return to Australia and Cody was being posted to Mumbai. The obstacles were stacked against us, but we finally made it and reunited in India at last. Now, as we build our life together in Tel Aviv, through every hurdle and every adventure and turbulent times, we want more than ever to celebrate our journey with our nearest and dearest.
